Starting a new project can feel daunting, but Marg Architects is here to simplify it. We'll kick off with an initial meeting to chat about your wish list, outline a project brief, and set a budget. This is our chance to understand your vision and ensure we're on the same page.

Site Research
Next, we'll dive into understanding your site. We'll gather all existing documentation, including certificates of title, council drainage plans, and district planning rules. For existing buildings, we’ll conduct a site measure and search for archival drawings. Depending on the specifics of the site, we might also recommend a topographical survey and geotechnical report at this stage.

Concept Design
With the project brief established and the site parameters defined, we'll start crafting concepts. These are spatial solutions tailored to the site constraints, your brief, and your budget. Depending on the project, we might present a few options for you to choose from. To ensure everything aligns, we recommend getting an early cost estimate from a quantity surveyor or builder. Alternatively, we can use a square meter rate for a high-level cost indication.

Developed Design
After selecting the preferred concept, we'll refine the design based on your feedback. This is where we finalise dimensions, select materials, and collaborate with a structural engineer to work through the structure. This stage is crucial as it’s the last opportunity to make significant changes before moving forward.

Detailed Design & Documentation
Now, we’ll dive into the technical details. We'll create a comprehensive set of documents to secure building consent and provide your builder with everything they need to price and construct your project.

Construction & Oversight
Your project comes to life! We can draft a New Zealand Institute of Architects construction contract and handle all contract administration on your behalf, including processing your builder’s progress claims. Throughout the build, we’ll conduct regular site visits to ensure everything is progressing as planned and advocate for your interests.
